Operating System

Hallo everyone.. I'm back with some information about Operating System..

Let's check it..

Operating System

Operating System is software on the first layer that is put on the computer memory when the computer is turned on. While other software is run after the Operating System runs, and the Operating System will perform a common core services for the software. Common core services such as disk access, memory management, scheduling tasks, and user interfaces. So that each software no longer need to perform these common core tasks, because it can be served and performed by the Operating System.

The operating system on the computer can be divided into two, namely:

  • Command line interface

Command line interface or CLI is a type of computer operating system that has interaction contact with usernya or interfaces using hardware based letters, numbers, and also symbols. Currently, CLI is rarely, and even not used at all, especially for the purposes of the user. CLI is widely used for special purposes only, the example of this CLI-based operating system is the DOS operating system.

  • Graphical User Interface

Graphical user interface is a type of computer operating system that relies on graphical interaction between users or users. Users can obtain information more clearly with additional graphic features, and also coloring, so it is not monotonous. GUI is widely used on current operating systems, such as Windows and Mac OS.

1. WINDOWS
Microsoft Windows or better known as Windows is a family of operating systems. Developed by Microsoft, using a graphical user interface.
The Windows operating system has evolved from MS-DOS, a text-based and command-line operating system. The first version of Windows, Windows Graphic Environment 1.0 was first introduced on November 10, 1983, but just came out of the market in November of 1985, which was made to meet the needs of a computer with a pictorial display. Windows 1.0 is an additional 16-bit software (not an operating system) running on MS-DOS (and some variants of MS-DOS), so it will not work without a DOS operating system. Version 2.x, 3.x version is the same. The last few versions of Windows (starting with version 4.0 and Windows NT 3.1) are standalone operating systems that no longer depend on the MS-DOS operating system. Microsoft Windows can then grow and can master the use of the operating system to reach 90%.

2. MAC OS
Mac OS stands for Macintosh Operating System. Mac OS is a computer operating system created by Apple Computer specifically for Macintosh computers and incompatible with IBM-based PCs. Introduced in 1984, Mac OS has since 2006 been compatible with both PowerPC and x86 architectures.
Mac OS X is the latest version of the Mac OS operating system for Macintosh computers. This operating system was first released in 2001. The character "X" is a Roman number meaning ten, where this version is the successor of a previously used operating system like Mac OS 8Mac OS 9. Some people read it as an audible "X" Such as "ex". One of the reasons why they interpret this way is because of the tradition of naming a Unix-based operating system with the suffix "x" (eg AIX, IRIX, Linux, Minix, Ultrix, Xenix). And Mac OS X Server was also released in 2001. Basically this Server version is similar to the standard version, with the difference that the Serverworkgroup version is on a large-scale computer. An example of the additional features available for this version is software to run functions such as SMTP, SMB, LDAP and DNS. Besides the way of licensing is also different. Includes software for management and administration purposes Mac OS X is an operating system that uses the BSD kernel so some say Mac OS X is included in the Unix family. The interesting thing about this OS is the beauty of its looks that makes it a role model for other desktop developers

3. LINUX
Linux (pronounced lɪnəks or / lɪnʊks /) is the name given to the operating system of a Unix-type computer. Linux is one example of the results of the development of free software and open source main. Like other free and open source software in general, Linux source code can be modified, used and redistributed freely by anyone.
The name "Linux" comes from the manufacturer's name, which was introduced in 1991 by Linus Torvalds. The system, system equipment and libraries are generally derived from the GNU operating system, announced in 1983 by Richard Stallman. GNU's contribution is the basis for the emergence of the GNU / Linux alternative name.

4. UNIX
UNIX is an Operating System created by Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie, developed by AT & T Bell Labs. UNIX is designed as a portable, Multi-Tasking and Multi-User Operating System. UNIX Operating System is more emphasis on Workstation and Server, Due to the availability and high compatibility factor, UNIX can be used, copied and modified so that UNIX is developed by many parties and cause many variants of this UNIX.

5. GOOGLE CHROME
Google Chrome OS is an open source operating system designed by Google Inc. To work exclusively with web apps.Google Chrome OS was announced on July 7, 2009, and its stable version will be launched publicly in the second half of 2010. The operating system is Linux-based and will only run on specially designed hardware. Its user interface is designed to take a minimalist approach, such as the Google Chrome web browser. This operating system is intended for those who spend most of their time on the Internet.

6. RICH OS
RISC OS (pron .: / rɪskoʊɛs /) [4] is a computer operating system originally designed by Acorn Computers Ltd in Cambridge, England in 1987. RISC OS is specifically designed to run on the ARM chipset, which has been designed Acorn, for use in A new line of personal computers Archimedes.

7. XTS 400
The XTS-400 is a secure multi-level computer operating system. It is multi-user and multitasking. It works in a networked environment and supports Gigabit Ethernet and IPv4 and IPv6.

The XTS-400 is a combination of Intel x86 hardware and the Secure Trusted Operating Program (STOP) operating system. XTS-400 was developed by BAE Systems, and was originally released as a 6.0 version in December 2003.

8. GARUDA OS
Garuda OS is a Linux-based Distros PCLinuxOS Fullmonty Edition made by Indonesian developers that supports the use of SNI format documents (National Standard Indonesia), safe from computer virus disturbance, high stability, accompanied by support of Indonesian language and equipped with programs from various categories. Can be obtained freely without having to pay for license purchases.

9. DOS
Disk Operating System (abbreviated DOS) is a family of operating systems used in personal computers. Now, the term DOS becomes a generic term for any operating system loaded from a disk storage device when the computer system is turned on.

10. AIX
One of UNIX's pasaings is IBM AIX. AIX claims to have the best journaling filesystem, able to record all disk transactions that occur, so that it is able to recover the system without much problem this ability increases reliability. AIX is also BSD based.

If you know more about Operating System, please coment okay..
Thank you
