Android Version Progress




Android is a Linux-based operating system designed for touch screen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Android was originally developed by Android, Inc. With financial support from Google, then Google bought in 2005.

1. Android Alpha

Android Alpha or Android 1.0 Apple Pie released at least 2 versions before Android beta was released on September 23, 2008. Google and OHA that released it. Alpha version has code name that is: Astro Boy, Bender and R2-D2. Camera support, this version has no option to change camera resolution, clarity, photo quality, and so on. Notifications appear on the status bar, with the option to set ringtones, LEDs, or vibrating tones.

2. Android Beta

Android beta was released on February 9, 2009. Details and reviews are available when users search for business locations on Maps. Ability to show / hide the call button.  Ability to save attachments on messages.

3. Android Cupcake
Android was released on April 30, 2009. Support Bluetooth A2DP, AVRCP. Soft-keyboard with text prediction. Record / watch videos.

4. Android Donut
Released on September 15, 2009. features developed are Gesture framework and Turn-by-turn navigation.

5. Android Eclair

Released on October 26, 2009. The added features are HTML, Digital zoom, Microsoft Exchange Support, Bluetooth 2.1, Live Wallpapers, Updated UI, Update 2.1, Updated UI.

6. Android Froyo (Frozen Yogurt)
Released on May 20, 2010. Features and improvements are Speed Improvement, JIT Implementation, USB Tethering, Application installation for memory expansion, Support file upload on the browser and Animated GIFs.

7. Android GingerBread
Released copy / paste, improved power management, Social Networking Features, Support NFC (Near Field Communication), Support Native VoIP / SIP, Support Video call
