Why is halloween identical with pumpkin?

Halloween is a harvest tradition of harvest night in America which is often celebrated every 30 october by children and adults wearing identical costumes with ghosts, aliens, zombies, and other creepy things. But this time I will not discuss how Halloween history, this time I will discuss about one of the Halloween icons, which are carvings of pumpkins or often called Jack-o'-Lantern.

We all know that Pumpkin is carved with a scary face is one of the things most related to Halloween. In the United States, Jack-o'-Lantern Lanterns are often placed in front of the house and used to have candles in it when the night is getting late, this is done to add to the horror of Halloween. Almost in all the films that tell about Halloween must use Pumpkin carvings as her properties. then why Pumpkin or Jack-o'-Lantern Carvings can be synonymous with Halloween ?.

Initially, the tradition of carving pumpkins was first introduced by united Americans in the North (the state of Montana, Dakota, Minnesota, Idaho, Oregon, and other northern regions). This is because in the United States the northern union is a region that produces a lot of large pumpkins, which is why then the art of sculpting pumpkin into a commonplace in North America.

Then the use of pumpkin carvings on Halloween celebration itself is based on Irish folklore About the Jack, a mals but clever farmer. He managed to confine the devil inside his Dompet. He promised to let go of Satan as long as he did not bring Jack's spirit into hell if Jack would die. Jack finally died and the Devil escaped from Jack's wallet. By God, Jack's spirit will be brought to hell for the rest of his life, jack often commit a crime, but it turns out to be blocked by the devil who has stumbled on Jack to not bring Jack to hell.

Jack's spirit was hanging somewhere. Jack then make Lentera from radish carved and then traveled the world to find his resting place.

It is this story which then underlies the use of the turnip carvings for Halloween day celebrations (because the lantern carvings of radish are identical with the devil). But because of the turnip rabies in North America, the use of radishes is replaced with the more easily found Pumpkin fruit. Until now, the use of pumpkins as an icon of Halloween days is still preserved by united Americans.
